Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 1, 2026

Who we are

The Feels is a band from Cincinnati, Ohio. This policy covers a private tool the band uses to help answer booking email, and the outside players on the band's website (see "This website" below).

What the tool does

The tool runs on the band's own computer. It reads the band's own inbox, thefeelsbooking@gmail.com, and, when a band member asks for one, writes a reply draft into that inbox. A band member reviews every draft and sends it by hand. The software never sends email.

The tool connects only to the band's own Google account. It never accesses anyone else's account.

Google permissions

The tool requests exactly two Gmail permissions:

  • gmail.readonly (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly), which Google describes as "View your email messages and settings". The tool uses it to read the messages in the band's inbox.
  • gmail.compose (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.compose), which Google describes as "Manage drafts and send emails". The tool uses it only to save reply drafts. Although Google's name for this permission includes "send", the software never sends email: its code refuses every send, delete, trash, label and settings request. A band member sends each email by hand.

What data it accesses

For each message in the band's inbox, the tool reads the sender, recipients, subject, date and text body, and the names, types and sizes of any attachments. It does not download attachment contents. Because people write to the band, this includes whatever those senders put in their messages.

How it uses that data

The tool uses email data for one purpose: writing reply drafts when a band member asks for one, which a band member then reviews and sends. The band does not use email data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not use it to train AI models.

How it stores that data

The tool keeps a local copy of the messages it reads (the details listed above, without attachment contents) as files on the band's own computer, in a folder whose permissions allow access only by the owner's user account and the system. The first sync covers the last 60 days of mail; after that it adds new mail. The tool's Google sign-in token is stored the same way.

Reply drafts are saved in the band's own Gmail Drafts. Nothing is stored on any server run by the band; there is no server.

Sharing

The band never sells email data. It shares message content with one outside service only, Anthropic, for one purpose: when a band member asks for a reply draft, the message content is processed by Anthropic's Claude, running through Claude Code on the band's computer, to write that draft, which is saved to Gmail Drafts. No other third party receives data from the inbox.

Retention and deletion

The local copy is kept until the band deletes it. There is no automatic expiry today.

The band can remove the tool's access to the inbox at any time from the Google account's third-party access settings (myaccount.google.com/permissions). The tool can also revoke its own sign-in token. Questions about your data, including deletion, go to the address below.

Google API Services User Data Policy

The Feels' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

This website

Song videos: a song on the home page that has a video shows a play button. The video loads only when a visitor presses play; until then the page makes no request to YouTube. It is served from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Once a video is playing, YouTube's own privacy policy applies (policies.google.com/privacy).

Music player: the Bandcamp player on the home page loads from bandcamp.com when a visitor scrolls down to it, without a press. Bandcamp's own privacy policy applies to that player (bandcamp.com/privacy).

Changes

If the way the tool uses data changes, this page will be updated first and the effective date above will change.
